Responsibilities

Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of a thermodynamic cycle for an aviation engine using sound engineering principles while meeting industry standards and program requirements. This includes setting performance cycle design points and requirements for each module in the engine and providing customer quotes and guarantees
Experience with creating thermodynamic models in NPSS and using those models to drive the design and development of an aviation gas turbine. Experience completing and supporting operability and transient analysis in conjunction with engine performance
Lead engine system or component test programs from a performance, operability, and transient perspective. Set test objectives and limits, instrumentation and test data requirements, and test planning to validate the engine design
Serve as the performance design subject matter expert as part of a diverse system design team. Ensure the engine meets overall performance, operability, and transient requirements from a design perspective. Coordinate with mechanical and aero engineers to optimize the overall engine cycle
Lead design reviews and coordinate with other disciplines in design, performance, controls, stress and life, additive manufacturing, materials and system analysis
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
Participate in the research and development of technologies and methodologies associated with additive design. Advise on ways to improve product design through the exploitation of additive manufacturing
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated consistent with engineering best practices

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
At least 12 years of experience in gas turbine performance analysis
Strong understanding of design software tools (NPSS, etc.)
Experience working with additive manufacturing technologies and familiarity with design for additive manufacturing principles
Passion for additive technology and willingness to challenge current design limitations to further exploit the benefits of additive capability
Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
Demonstrated problem solving ability and strong program leadership and execution skills
Proven self-starter and quick learner who can work in fast-paced cross-functional teams
Direct experience supporting and working with customers
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. Citizenship is required, as only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a security clearance
