Equipment Financial Analyst

Responsibilities
Analyze all cost factors associated with owning and operating heavy construction equipment to determine accurate cost recovery rates
Leverage historical and projected fleet data to establish benchmarks for annual runtime, fuel burn, and billable equipment hours
Monitor external resources to stay informed on fuel market trends, residual equipment values, and third-party rental rates
Implement best practices defined by CEMP, AEMP, and CFMA, including optimal replacement schedules, equipment profitability, reliability metrics, and operational KPIs
Compile and present analytical findings through clear visual reports and actionable summaries
Conduct cost studies and component comparisons to drive informed management decisions
Document and streamline equipment division processes, reporting procedures, and data collection methods to improve accuracy and efficiency
Support new and ongoing process documentation, special projects, and non-routine analyses as assigned
Identify opportunities to streamline recurring interdepartmental processes related to lease accounting, depreciation, safety metrics, accounts payable approvals, and quarterly reporting
Prepare and present the monthly divisional financial reporting package to the executive team
Develop capital expenditure forecasts for financial planning purposes
Provide analytical support for non-routine financial tasks and cross-functional initiatives
Support the Small Tools group with asset classification, codification, cost entry, and recovery rate management
Maintain and optimize the division’s construction equipment technology platform, which serves as a maintenance management system, OEM telemetry repository, and resource scheduling/dispatching tool
Maintain weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting frameworks; evaluate and enhance accuracy and efficiency
Oversee procedures for recording parts spend, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
Forecast major parts and maintenance expenses (e.g., preventive maintenance, undercarriage, tires, ground-engaging tools)
Define and communicate work order creation and review procedures
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or related field required
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a financial reporting or equipment management capacity
Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to effectively communicate across teams and with external partners
Advanced mathematical ability, including proficiency in calculating discounts, interest, and percentages
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) with demonstrated ability to manage and analyze large datasets
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of prioritizing multiple tasks under minimal supervision
Self-motivated and able to meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy
Preferred
Experience with reporting and visualization tools (Crystal Reports, SQL Studio, or Power BI) preferred
