Responsibilities

Responsible for managing patient interactions in the pharmacy, including patient counseling and resolving patient issues promptly to ensure a positive patient experience
Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and joyful experience, including interpersonal habits that show care (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy, etc.) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., demonstrating curiosity to identify needs and proactively helping, servicing until satisfied, championing empathy and inclusivity.)
Maintains responsibility for the operations of the pharmacy department in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager and Store Manager, as delegated by the Pharmacy Manager
Improves prescription numbers, store sales, profit, and image through the accurate filling of prescriptions, providing valued added pharmacy service, and providing courteous, professional, and efficient service to patients
Adheres to federal and state laws and regulations and Company policies governing all drugs and products; maintains required records, documentation, and reports. Reviews and complies with the Walgreen Co. pharmacy code of conduct
Assists with adherence to guidelines concerning the receipt, storage, shipment, and dispensing of controlled drugs; reviews and complies with the controlled substance policy statement. Adheres to the guidelines of the Walgreen Company's pharmacy laws and ethics statement
Designs, executes, and presents an investigational project issue related to community pharmacy practice
Assists in preparing and managing department workflow and daily tasks
Assists in or makes recommendations concerning the supervision of all pharmacy department employees to ensure performance of required functions and adherence to Company policies and procedures
Assist with ensuring proper processing of all third-party prescriptions, adhere to partial fill procedures, and utilize generics whenever possible to maximize the gross profitability of the store
Maintains current knowledge of information technology associated with pharmacy systems, including workflow, prescription fulfillment, billing, clinical documentation, training, inventory management, and point-of-sale registers to provide support to patients as well as pharmacy staff. Seeks new and better ways to further promote productivity
Responsible for assuring that pharmacy department procedures and practices comply with federal and state regulations and guidelines. Requires travel to meetings throughout the year
Assists with staff development activities and training for Walgreens' pharmacists
Promotes teamwork and motivates team members by establishing expectations, monitors and recognizes progress, and fosters a shared vision
Maintains current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare by reading pharmacy-related journals, company publications, and communications. Maintains awareness of developments in retail and management and pursues best practices that would enhance performance
Completes required residency program documentation (i.e., evaluations, needs assessments, etc.) to facilitate training in learning experiences
Seeks professional development by monitoring 'one's performance, solicits constructive feedback, and leverages pharmacy manager and store manager as mentor and coach
Supports the Pharmacy Manager and Store Manager by communicating relevant corporate health and wellness services or strategy information to pharmacy staff

Required

Doctor of Pharmacy degree from a college or school of pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education
Ability to obtain a pharmacist license, within the state of residency, within 90 days of the start of the residency program
Individuals must participate in and adhere to the ASHP Resident Matching Program rules

Preferred
