Fleet Services Technician

The State of Delaware is seeking a Fleet Services Technician who provides direct customer service to state agencies by issuing vehicles and coordinating maintenance. The role involves tracking vehicle assignments, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring vehicles are in optimal condition.

Responsibilities

Dispatches vehicles from a centralized motor pool; tracks and monitors vehicle assignments through the use of an automated information system
Coordinates, arranges and delivers vehicles for routine service, repair and warranty activities to contractual automotive vendors following approved purchasing practices
Creates and maintains work orders, enters repairs, parts, and labor descriptions into an automated information system, schedules work with vendors and estimates/calculates costs
Inspects vehicles for safety, serviceability and cleanliness to ensure vehicles remain in optimum condition
Performs routine maintenance activities such as adding oil or fluids, filling window washer reservoirs and checking and adjusting tire pressure. May change tires, batteries, filters or wiper blades when necessary
Prepares and maintains records of vehicle activity

Required

Knowledge of preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment such as lubricating, cleaning, and servicing
Knowledge of using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data
Knowledge of record keeping
Knowledge of math such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, or decimals
Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving)
Basic knowledge of automotive systems and the ability to change tires, batteries, wipers, and light bulbs as needed
Ability to utilize computers and a smartphone is required
