Economic and Workforce Development - Blueprint Industry Coordinator - Non-Merit

Responsibilities
Develop business and community partnerships by conducting outreach and recruitment of businesses based on the identified needs and interests of high school-aged students
Establish and continually expand a network of strong employer partnerships
Contact employers by telephone (may include cold calling), email, and personal site visits to identify hiring needs, available career pathways, and opportunities for mentorship, information sharing, and partnership
Meet and establish professional relationships with prospective employers by attending networking events, including career fairs, Chamber of Commerce events, industry gatherings, etc
Identify job and industry-specific roles, business requirements, workforce trends, job skills, and design and deliver presentations on career pathways and opportunities in the community related to job development
Collaborate with school-based staff to identify potential work-based learning experiences in the business community
Work closely with inter-departmental and inter-agency teams and act as the liaison between BCPS and CCBC to provide information and facilitative support as these entities connect students with specific career and workforce development information, opportunities, experiences, and training activities
Support the recruitment of area business partners to contribute to career development activities, including work-based learning placements
Formulate strategic action plans to improve employer and student engagement
Conduct follow-ups with employers to assess satisfaction with engagement in the career counseling program
Support CCBC and BCPS in the development of career-readiness outreach activities and events for students, including evaluations of activities and outcomes
Work with area agencies to assist in educating employers on opportunities to work with and hire students with varying abilities, appropriate accommodations, ADA laws, and tax benefits
Assist BCPS and CCBC in developing and implementing best practices for the career counseling program, including community engagement, vocational training, person-centered planning, coaching supports, and advocacy
Partner with school-based staff to provide workplace experiences that align with educational experiences and prepare students for their career goals
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed about labor market trends, local workforce needs, education opportunities, and additional resources
Participate in meetings and trainings with school-based staff, business partners, and Baltimore County Government agencies
Maintain confidential records and comply with all federal, state, and local laws governing data privacy and safety
Stay up-to-date about available industry training and education programs, including entrance requirements, competency requirements, and performance outcomes
Prepare routine correspondence and documentation to appropriate parties as required by County and program requirements, including weekly updates to Program Manager
Qualification
Required
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in business, social work, communication, education, human resources, or a related field, plus two years of related experience
Experience with employer outreach, business sales, marketing, human resources, and or community outreach preferred
Relevant work experience may be substituted for education requirements on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of four years
Some evenings and weekend hours required
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Ability to engage in daily travel between school sites, local businesses, job centers, and education/training providers
Knowledge of current Baltimore County workforce trends, needs, and workforce-related community resources
Knowledge of current career tools, services, and resources
Knowledge of the job search process with experience using current job search tools and resources
Experience working in or with private sector businesses and developing and maintaining rapport
Understanding of career planning and career coaching, especially with young people, people with disabilities, and people with diverse backgrounds and experiences
Understand and interpret local and State labor market trends and connect them to experiences for young people
Collect, analyze, and effectively communicate data and assessment results
Self-starter who can work independently to set and meet professional goals
Proven experience in community building and employee engagement
Extremely organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
Capability to assess what is working and to quickly adapt when a new approach is needed
Complete all required forms, reports, etc. associated with the above responsibilities
Able to develop and facilitate presentations both virtually and in-person
Able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills when engaging with industry partners and partnering entities (CCBC and BCPS)
Able to work efficiently, effectively, and non-competitively as part of a team
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with people of varied cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds
Ability to establish credibility through consultative relationships with employers
Ability to work towards a win-win result that aligns students' college and career interests with employers' real talent needs
Ability to set goals and focus on achieving them
Strong verbal and written communication abilities
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Proficiency using MS Office Applications (Email, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), job search tools, Intent, and various computerized tutorials
Preferred
Experience with employer outreach, business sales, marketing, human resources, and or community outreach preferred
Bilingual skills are desirable
