Technologist - Intrusion Detection Systems

Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration. Responsibilities

Assists in the preparation of specifications for structures, systems, and equipment
Under guidance of Principle Technologist or supervisors: Work in teams performing, Corrective, and Preventative maintenance on Intrusion Detection systems utilized by Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) and/or subcontractors in assigned areas
Work in teams performing, installation of Intrusion Detection systems and CCTV utilized by Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) and/or subcontractors in assigned areas
Makes routine calculations and analyses in support of design engineering, such as earthwork, material quantity takeoff, and statistical data
Assists in computer-related activities such as preparing data and using computers to solve technical problems
Assists engineers in reviewing and recommending action on requests for engineering change orders and obtains the required approvals
Performs technical research and gathers data needed by engineers
Participates in the On Call Program and Provides Mission Critical Support
Assists with detailed review of drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and format suitability
May provide support of operations at Nuclear or High Hazard (HH) facilities to maintain a condition and configuration to accept and support programs and projects
Contributes to solutions of assignment-related problems and issues with limited scope and basic complexity. Follows basic standards, practices, and procedures as well technical knowledge to address problems and complete tasks
May assist in and operate specific equipment and/or tools necessary for a particular assignment, including radiation detection equipment, electronics, networking components
Follows checklists for specific equipment-related tasks such as calibration, testing, and operation of equipment or tools needed for the position
Assists in defining specifications for procurements and initiates purchase requests
Provides support for execution of program/project activities and data collection (i.e., classified systems/networks, diagnostics, and laser systems)

Required

Associate degree in field related to the position plus at least 3 years' progressive related experience or High School diploma plus 5 years' progressive related experience
The ability to work independently or in a team environment on a wide variety of tasks is critical
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook is required
Will be required to participate in the Human Reliability Program (HRP)
Primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles north of Las Vegas, Nevada)
Work schedule for this position will be 4/10's, Monday – Thursday (subject to change). Overtime may be required in support of our On Call Program while providing Mission Critical Support
Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required
Must possess a valid driver's license
MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications
Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance
Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age
