Aeroderivative Performance and Operability Lead Engineer
GE Vernova is a leading company in renewable energy technologies, seeking a Lead Engineer for their Aeroderivative Performance & Operability Engineering team. Responsibilities
Lead Model Development Lifecycle: Drive the creation, adjustment, validation, and application of thermodynamic cycle models for aeroderivative gas turbines using NPSS and associated tools
Develop and Refine Operability Models: Manage the lifecycle for operability models, including emissions, fuel flexibility, and control aspects, ensuring models reflect operational realities
Test Plan Development & Field Support: Define and develop engineering test plans, supporting field tests to gather data that drives improvements in both performance and operability models
Field Data Integration & Model Validation: Analyze post-processed field data using data analysis techniques (e.g., data science, statistics, probabilities) to update and status-match models with real-world operational data
Fuel Flexibility Expertise: Evaluate the use of various fuels (e.g., hydrogen, biofuels) in power plants, determining necessary model adjustments to support fuel-flexible solutions
Technical Leadership: Act as a performance and operability technical expert for aeroderivative gas turbines, serving as a focal point for coordination with GE Aviation and GE Vernova internal teams
Data-Driven Analysis: Apply advanced data science methods to evaluate model performance, deliver concise analyses, and present complex findings to leadership
Process Improvement: Continuously refine team processes, implementing best practices and lessons learned to drive efficiency and innovation
Tool Development: Develop tools and templates using VBA, Python, NPSS, or other utilities to streamline team operations and enhance problem-solving capabilities
Qualification
Required
This role requires advanced experience in the Engineering/Technology & Performance Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience)
Preferred
Master's or PhD in engineering or equivalent fields
Significant experience in Aeroderivative performance modeling, particularly in data reduction, status matching, and NPSS cycle model development
Strong programming experience in NPSS, Python, and C
Deep understanding of gas turbine thermodynamics, controls, emissions, and operability
Familiarity with gas turbine performance testing including standards such as ASME PTC 22 or ISO 2314
Understanding of gas turbine combustion and emissions including creation of combustion transfer functions
Experience with fuel flexibility including high hydrogen and its impact on systems such as performance, emissions, operability, and controls
Proficiency in data analysis, data science, and probabilistic modeling
Ability to work effectively in globally distributed teams
Experience in applying continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean to improve operations
Demonstrated ability to think critically and creatively to analyze and resolve complex problems
