Responsibilities

Underwrite, service, and manage assigned accounts of high complexity
May have production goals assigned and measured on new business goal attainment
Prepare and maintain periodic reports pertinent to the ongoing operation of the department
Monitor and evaluate programs for profitability
Assess exposure and determine rates, terms and conditions of coverage in accordance with guidelines and uses judgement underwriting to evaluate a risk
Determine either to accept, modify, or decline risks and request reinsurance as necessary
Decrease value of policy when risk is substandard to limit company obligation, and specify applicable endorsements, or apply rating to ensure safe and profitable distribution of risks
Develop or modify policy wording when standard text is not appropriate
Bind coverage and initiate issuance of documents
Sign policy and authorize transmittal of documents to brokers and markets as required
Additional responsibilities as assigned
Complexity is based on the degree of uncertainty, financial risk, technical requirements, urgency, and volume or size

Required

High School Diploma or GED required
At least 5 years of underwriting experience
Must maintain current required licenses and certifications relevant to field of expertise
Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
Advanced customer service skills
Proficient use of applicable technology
Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
Ability to analyze and prioritize multiple responsibilities
