Airframe Liaison Engineering Supervisor

Responsibilities

Leads a team of 4-5 liaison engineers and design assurance specialists in managing rapid prototype and production GA-ASI platforms
Creates, investigates and executes Change Requests (CR) and Change Notifications (CN) for composite drawings and specifications
Prepares and brief CR/CN in front of Change Control Board (CCB) stakeholders
Provides depositions for nonconforming production parts as the Material Review Board (MRB) engineer
Coordinates with various engineering group such as Airframe Integrity Group, Material & Process, Manufacturing Engineering, Project Engineering and Quality Engineering to resolve complex issues
Identifies root cause to engineering/manufacturing issues and work independently to resolve them
Expected to work closely with production floor clarifying engineering drawing intent
Assist management with tactical execution of all department activities including managing, mentoring, developing, and training
Participates in the planning, attraction, selection, retention and development of personnel to ensure team capacity and competencies are aligned with business needs
Performs other duties as assigned
Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices

Required

Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education
Must have a thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties
Backgrounds in Mechanical, Aeronautical/Aerospace desired
Prior management experience leading a team in an engineering or manufacturing setting desired
Experience and knowledge of interpreting engineering drawings with emphasis on composite lamination and airframe integration
Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Excellent verbal and written communication with an emphasis in technical presentation
Experienced in aircraft development and composite manufacturing
Experience with LEAN manufacturing methodologies desired
Working knowledge of GD&T ANSI Y-14.5M
Experience using CREO Parametric/NX or similar CAD software
Basic project management knowledge
Able to work extended hours as required
Able to identify issues and develop solutions to a variety of problems of diverse scope and complexity
Provides documentation and makes technical presentations as required
Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive information
Ability obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance required

Preferred

Prior management experience leading a team in an engineering or manufacturing setting desired
Experience with LEAN manufacturing methodologies desired
