Medicare Billing Assistant

Responsibilities

Reviewing, correcting, and completing billings to ensure accurate and complete billing for Medicare and Managed Medicare payers
Uses multiple databases and applications to analyze information or documents received and take appropriate action
Regular contact is maintained with Patient Financial Services staff, department, and management, as well as patients, billing and professional fees, and collection service vendors

Required

High School Diploma or GED
Six or more months of experience in a hospital or medical billing office environment or a certificate from an accredited medical billing program
Knowledge of ICD, CPT4, HCPCS, DRG, Revenue, APC Groupers and/or Medi-cal billing codes
Knowledge of hospital contracts, insurance billing requirements, UB04 claim forms, Medicare, Medi-cal, Managed Medicare/Medi-cal, and compliance program regulations
Knowledge of electronic billing processes
Knowledge of computer operation, keyboard functions, adding machine, copy machine, and fax machine operation
Good analytical, organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Ability to follow directions and written procedures
Must be a motivated individual with a positive attitude and exceptional work ethic
Computer software skills (i.e. Microsoft Applications and E-mail, etc.)
The ability to work onsite in Emeryville

Preferred

EPIC experience
Medical terminology experience
Understanding of HIPAA rules and regulations
