Chief Information Officer

Responsibilities
Performs all leadership duties, including hiring and rewarding talent, fostering an inclusive and safe workplace, partnering with employees to set clear goals and expectations, providing timely and specific feedback on performance, developing improvement plans to address performance gaps, addressing conflict with care and respect, identifying opportunities for growth and development, embracing and modeling a mindset of lifelong learning, ensuring employees report to work fit for duty, adhering to our Code of Conduct, and modeling Alliant Energy’s Core Values at all times
Serves as a Corporate Officer, appointed by Alliant Energy’s Board of Directors; agent of the corporation with fiduciary duties called the duty of loyalty and duty of care
Develops strong relationships and partners with business unit leaders to align on a multi-year technology strategy that identifies and maximizes opportunities to use technology, automation, mobility, analytics, and information to support business goals and initiatives
Drives strong program delivery of major technology programs and projects, including overseeing the design, implementation, and integration of new applications and changes to existing computer systems and software
Responsible for cybersecurity and physical security. Develops cybersecurity and technology organization strategies and provides regular updates to the Board of Directors on performance
Directs and leads the Alliant Energy AI and data analytics strategy and adoption within the organization
Drives operational excellence within the information technology (IT) function through effective organizational design, transformational leadership, and performance of employees, vendors, and contractors
Directs and guides the tactical activities of the IT function, including implementing and maintaining Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), human capital, customer experience, workforce and asset management and supervisory control, and data acquisition (SCADA) systems; integrating renewables and grid-related technology; overseeing enterprise architecture, network infrastructure, and telecommunications; advancing data management and business analytics; and ensuring security and regulatory compliance
Champions IT talent development, ensuring leadership and professional talent are in place and succession bench strength is achieved. Partners with human resources (HR) to develop and maintain a culture that attracts and retains top IT talent
Develops the IT capital and operating budgets and long-term strategic business plan, working collaboratively with the jurisdictions and functions to create plans that align with the regulatory frameworks under which Alliant Energy operates
Serves as a member of the Executive Privacy Governance Committee and participates on other company committees as requested
Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree Emphasis in information technology or related area
10 years technical and/or professional experience in information technology including implementing large application projects; demonstrated knowledge of application platforms and infrastructure; and demonstrated knowledge of contemporary technology solutions and their application to the business
10 years progressively more responsible management experience with demonstrated experience in managing resources to meet goal across multiple projects and various geographic locations
Experience advising and providing counsel to executive management
Demonstrated effective leadership skills with competencies in strategic thinking, change management, risk management, and internal and external relationship management
Demonstrated financial, business acumen, and analytical skills
Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skill
Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management)
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment
Preferred
Experience in the utility industry and/or another regulated industry is preferred but not required
