System Model Development Engineer

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is currently looking for a System Model Development Engineer at their Superior Township, MI facility. Responsibilities

Develop, maintain and debug simulation tools used to analyze core vehicle functional objectives including fuel economy, longitudinal performance, launch on grade capability, towing performance, and track performance
Implement and adhere to version control standards for all tools development to ensure data integrity and traceability
Design and refine user interface for efficiency design tool, focusing on usability and workflow efficiency
Understand and follow the department’s business model, strategic direction, purpose, and mission
Work with the Manager and Senior Manager to participate in the department’s resource planning, goal setting, and technology roadmap creation
Foster inner-team collaboration and knowledge sharing through transparent communication
Prepare technical reports and presentations on key project milestones/achievements and provide actionable insights and recommendations for product improvements
Travel both domestically and internationally, as required (up to 15%)

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
4+ years of automotive engineering experience focused on powertrain development
Demonstrated experience in automotive powertrain core model development and refinement using MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape including version control and user interface development
Foundational knowledge of electrified powertrain components, including electric motors, power conversion systems, high voltage batteries, engines, transmissions, charging electronics, and control systems
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to clearly explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical collaborators
Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record

Preferred

Master's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
2+ years of delivering complex engineering projects related to electrified powertrain-level design, simulation, calibration, and validation
Experience with continuous model improvement through use of AI and HPC resources
Experience using software such as GT Suite, Amesim, or Cruise M for powertrain system simulation
