Financial Systems & Data Operations Engineer
PTMA Financial Solutions provides treasury management and liquidity management services to public sector entities. The Financial Systems & Data Operations Engineer will manage financial systems, oversee data integration processes, and ensure compliance while collaborating with finance and IT teams to enhance operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Manage and maintain financial systems (including our ERP, Sage Intacct, as well as billing, expense management, and procurement tools) to ensure they meet business needs and can scale with growth
Design and oversee data integration processes between financial systems and other platforms (e.g., CRM, data warehouse). Build and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines or use integration tools/APIs to ensure seamless data flow, eliminating manual data entry and reducing errors
Identify opportunities to automate recurring finance processes (such as data reconciliation, report generation, and transaction processing). Develop scripts or use automation tools to streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and enhance data accuracy
Develop and manage financial reports and dashboards to provide actionable insights. Leverage SQL, Power BI, and other BI/reporting tools to empower the Finance team and leadership with real-time data on key metrics (financial performance, budget vs. actuals, operational KPIs)
Ensure the integrity, security, and compliance of financial data across all systems. Implement data validation checks, monitoring, and controls in line with company policies and regulatory standards (e.g., SOX). Work with the Data Governance team to enforce data standards and documentation for master data management
Act as a liaison between Finance and IT/Engineering teams. Translate financial business requirements into technical specifications for system enhancements or integrations. Coordinate with vendors or IT on system upgrades, patches, and new feature implementations, ensuring minimal disruption to financial operations
Provide support to finance and accounting end-users, troubleshooting system issues or data discrepancies in a timely manner. Develop user guides and conduct training sessions to help teams fully utilize financial systems and reporting tools
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
5+ years of experience in financial systems administration, data operations/engineering, or a similar hybrid finance-technology role
Hands-on experience administering or supporting ERP and financial software (preferably Sage Intacct, or similar systems like NetSuite, SAP, Oracle)
Proficiency in SQL for data querying, extraction, and manipulation
Experience developing reports and dashboards using business intelligence tools, especially Microsoft Power BI, as well as advanced Excel skills
Solid understanding of accounting/finance processes (accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, financial close, and budgeting)
Knowledge of internal controls, compliance requirements (e.g., SOX), and data governance best practices in a financial context
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail when dealing with financial data and systems
Preferred
Direct experience with Sage Intacct or certification in Intacct administration
Ability to write scripts or use programming languages (e.g., Python, VBA, or RPA tools) to automate data tasks and integrations
Experience with data integration platforms or middleware (such as MuleSoft, Boomi, or Zapier) to connect cloud applications
Exposure to data warehousing concepts and connecting financial data to analytics platforms
Knowledge of additional BI tools (Tableau, Looker, etc.) is a plus
Understanding of data governance frameworks and experience implementing data quality or security measures in financial systems
