SECURITY SPECIALIST (COMMAND & STAFF PROGRAM)

Responsibilities
You will ensure all personnel who handle classified information or are assigned sensitive duties are appropriately cleared
You will control and maintain appropriate access to databases (e.g. Joint Personnel Adjudication System [JPAS], Scattered Castle, Gatekeeper, Case Adjudication Tracking System [CATS]) for individual security program management
You will use access control systems to manage classification of materials
You will decide the security clearance level necessary for access to sensitive information, resources, material, or work sites
Qualification
Required
Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Enforcing protective measures for safeguarding information critical to national security; 2) Implementing procedures for marking, safeguarding, dissemination, transmission, transportation, escorting, hand-carry, storage and destruction of classified materials; 3) Ensuring personnel security clearance eligibility is continuously evaluated; 4) Submitting Personnel Security Investigation (PSI) applications through Electronic Questionnaires for Investigative Processing (e-QIP) or official system of record to track investigations to completion and adjudication; and 5) Reporting threats to national security, loss, compromise, electronic spillages, and other violations
This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications
