Responsibilities

Diagnoses, repairs, and maintains a variety of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, front-end loaders, bulldozers, and tractors used in facility maintenance, beach access, and emergency response
Identifies and resolves issues in engines, transmissions, braking systems, hydraulic systems, and electrical components using diagnostic tools and technical manuals
Performs scheduled maintenance and safety checks to ensure equipment reliability and compliance with OSHA and NPS standards, especially in remote or high-use areas
Modifies and maintains equipment to withstand corrosive salt air, sand infiltration, and high humidity. Applies protective coatings and uses corrosion-resistant parts where applicable
Services smaller equipment such as UTVs, ATVs, mowers, and generators used for trail maintenance, campground operations, and emergency access

Required

U.S. Citizenship required
Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication
Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males

You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties
You will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment
You must possess and maintain a current Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards
You may be required to work weekends, holidays, and overtime
