Dairyland Power Cooperative is seeking a Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineer II or III to perform engineering analysis and project management functions for transmission line design. The role involves ensuring regulatory compliance, providing technical support, and managing transmission engineering activities.

Responsibilities

Design transmission lines, interconnections, conversions and switch installations in conformance with appropriate safety codes and design standards

Establish engineering design parameters and standards, for use by Transmission Design Engineering staff and/or consultants

Manage PLS-CADD model through project duration

Ensure that DPC is in compliance with appropriate NESC, RUS, PSC, IUB and industry design and construction standards

Prepare material lists and cost estimates for transmission line construction and relocation projects

Coordinate transmission engineering activities with Planning, Survey, Right-of-Way, Substation Design, Materials Management, Field Operations, Transmission Maintenance, Transmission Construction, Operations, Purchasing, Accounting, material suppliers, consultants, contractors, cooperative and municipal customers, interconnected utilities, and regulatory agencies. Represent Dairyland’s interests

Assume total responsibility for special transmission line projects, including engineering, material specification and procurement, and construction guidance/inspection. Work on project teams; may take the lead on teams

Evaluate alternate designs and materials

Analyze and recommend solutions for transmission line maintenance problems

Coordinate line design engineering software application and development

Perform other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

Three years of progressive experience in area(s) of transmission line design engineering, structural design, foundation design, and survey

Proficient in PLS Cadd and AutoCAD

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Ability to read and understand manufacturer drawings, technical bulletins and plan and profile sheets

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Must possess a valid driver's license

Either hold a Professional Engineering Certification or have the ability to acquire one within one year of employment

Proactive and forward thinking

Initiative and the ability to be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision

Ability to cooperatively and effectively work with field and office staff of diverse backgrounds from multiple internal departments or external companies or agencies

Accuracy and efficiency in completing work are essential

Periodic travel within the DPC system is required

Flexibility to travel up to 25% of the time
