Water System Engineer OR Senior Water System Engineer

The City of Azusa is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Water System Engineer or Senior Water System Engineer. The role involves performing civil engineering functions in support of the Water Division's production and distribution systems, including overseeing capital improvement projects and managing water infrastructure plans.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Plans and administers the Water Division capital improvement program, engineering work, and plans and specifications for water infrastructure and construction management
Assists in supervising, planning, coordinating, and assigning tasks to staff; participates in the recruitment and selection of water division employees
Provides lead design and review and assumes responsibility for plans and drawing associated with programs, projects, CIPs, new development, and inspection of the water infrastructure to ensure compliance with established standards and regulations
Establishes technical criteria and standards for the Water Division; identifies and prepares project scopes, engineer statements, schedules, specifications and fund opportunities; surveys and inspects to verify compliance
Provides advanced administrative and professional support to the Director of Utilities; participates in the implementation of goals, policies, procedures, and objectives for the Division
Prepares and develops water budgets for the Division to include revenue projection and forecasting for needed funds; prepares and updates a schedule of water fees and charges; monitors expenses
Prepares bid packages, request for proposals, public works contracts, supplier contracts, professional service contracts, and procurement; evaluates, selects, and administers professional service contracts
Manages and supervises the full program of water system construction, repair, and maintenance; develops, coordinates, and updates the utility water distribution system, master plan, and urban water management plan
Performs technical engineering calculations and analysis, including hydraulic modeling and water system analysis
Represents the Department regularly at various water industry groups, forums, and meetings
Performs a variety of customer service activities; investigates and resolves complaints and inquiries

Required

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university, or closely related field
Three (3) years of experience in water system engineering, consulting, and/or facility construction
Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Class C California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
Current Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California is required
Five (5) years of experience in water system engineering, consulting, and/or facility construction for Senior Water System Engineer
Current Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California is required for Senior Water System Engineer
Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Class C California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record for Senior Water System Engineer

Preferred

Experience in implementation of various water system technology projects is preferred
A master's degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering, Engineering Management, Construction Management or other related specialization is desirable
One (1) year of lead or supervisory experience is desired
Current Certification as a Distribution D2, and Treatment T2 by the State of California is highly desirable
