The University of Florida is seeking a Research Assistant Scientist in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering. The role involves conducting research on photonic integrated circuits and supporting educational missions through laboratory activities.

Responsibilities

Conduct research and development (R&D) on photonic integrated circuits (PIC) including, but not limited to pioneering, innovating, and prototyping
Optoelectronic component design/development/test
Chip design and foundry engagements
Perform design technology co-optimization (DCTO)
Perform photonic chip and device test
Perform data analysis
Synthesis or R&D result and prepare publications and dissemination material
Assemble and/or improve lab test environments
Identify and prepare applications to funding opportunities
Mentor team/group members
Support educational mission through class laboratory support and WFD activities for CHIPS-related grants

Required

PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field

Preferred

Experience with ASIC and mixed-signal (including PIC) Design for ML/AI applications
Experience in industry or national laboratories
Experience in DOD or national security ecosystem
U.S. Citizenship
Proven publication record
Proven team mentor
