Responsibilities
Responsible for research, development of layouts, preparation of engineering drawings, and coordination of design activities with Tooling, Flight Sciences, Manufacturing, and Production to ensure that designs meet requirements at minimum cost
Able to lead engineers in the design of detail parts, assemblies, and large installations for aircraft structure modifications
Incorporate feedback from multiple parties and stakeholders into their designs and installation packages
Review and approve the design of detail parts and assemblies to support aircraft modification installations
Designs will be accomplished using world-class, three-dimensional solid modeling CAD tools and work will be accomplished with senior-level design engineers. Mechanical design engineers can work on a wide variety of tasks and aircraft systems on various aircraft platforms
Familiar with aircraft systems or structure
Knowledge and familiarity with part configuration database software
Familiarity with aircraft structural repairs, STC’s, or general modification
Meeting delivery schedules, tracking budgets, and aspects of project management
Excellent written, verbal, communication skills
Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Able to move to and from the flight line, work in an aircraft production environment, and board/exit aircraft as required
Position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret clearance
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree with six (6) years of Mechanical Engineering experience within the Aerospace industry
Graduate Degree with four (4) years of Mechanical Engineering experience within the Aerospace industry
In lieu of a degree, a minimum of (10) years of Mechanical Engineering experience within the Aerospace industry
Must be a US Citizen
Position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret clearance
Excellent written, verbal, communication skills
Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Able to move to and from the flight line, work in an aircraft production environment, and board/exit aircraft as required
Preferred
CAD skills are highly desired (NX/Unigraphics Preferred, ProE, Catia)
