The Head of Data Engineering will define the vision and strategy for data engineering initiatives, leading a team of engineers while also engaging in hands-on technical responsibilities and client delivery.

Responsibilities

Define and execute the data engineering strategy, tools, and best practices
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of data engineers and architects
Partner with senior leadership on capability development and service roadmap
Support pre-sales efforts, including technical scoping and solution design
Architect scalable, cloud-native data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Oversee the design and delivery of data pipelines, ingestion systems, and transformation frameworks
Drive adoption of modern data tooling (Databricks, Snowflake, dbt, Spark, Airflow, Kafka, etc.)
Implement strong data quality, observability, security, and governance practices
Act as a trusted advisor on data engineering strategy and modernization initiatives
Lead technical discovery sessions, architecture reviews, and delivery roadmaps
Serve as technical escalation point for complex challenges
Champion engineering excellence, automation, reproducibility, and DevOps principles
Establish and uphold coding, documentation, and operational standards
Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and learning-oriented culture

Required

8–12+ years in data engineering, including 3–5+ years in leadership roles
Proven experience building and scaling modern, cloud-native data platforms
Deep understanding of distributed systems (Spark, Kafka), modern warehouses (Snowflake/BigQuery/Redshift), and transformation frameworks (dbt)
Strong experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to simplify complex concepts
Passion for automation, reliability, and engineering craftsmanship

Preferred

Consulting or client-facing delivery experience is a bonus
