Quality Inspector II

Responsibilities
Review job routing, quality log requirements, and interpret sketches to determine dimensions and tolerance specifications for features requiring inspection
Perform independent inspections, validations, and/or verifications of assigned items to ensure compliance and documentation of nonconforming material
Inspect product for surface defects, such as scratches, dents, cracks, workmanship, and weld quality
Perform inspections of simple GD& T hardware using a variety of common inspection tools which may include various micrometers, bore gages, depth gauges, dial indicators, drop indicators, height gauges, etc
Use basic GD&T concepts such as Straightness, Flatness, Circularity, Cylindricity, Perpendicularity, and Parallelism as needed
Use a variety of common inspection tools (OD&ID micrometers, calipers, pi tapes, thread gages, point mics, profilometers) to verify sketch/print dimensions of components
Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and specifications to determine machine setup, type of material or part, quantity, and finish dimensions
Perform standard operations for established programs on the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), FARO Arm, and scanning equipment
Receive inspection of product, hardware, or raw material to ensure PO requirements are met
Load and unload parts into inspection gauges to verify and document conformance
May be asked to perform higher level inspections while under supervision
May trim, sand, and drill parts, using shop equipment
Perform daily/weekly operator maintenance on equipment/tools (oil, clean, and inspection)
Accurately execute PCS (Process Control Sheets) and provide feedback when revisions are needed
Assist Engineering with the implementation, creation, and maintenance of PCS
Document actions by completing production and quality logs as needed
Accomplish organization goals by actively exploring opportunities to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. (SQDC)
Train others by openly sharing information, knowledge, and expertise with the team
Complete job assignments as directed by Quality or Manufacturing Manager
Attend meetings, trainings, and participate in audits as directed
Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
Comply with all company rules including company safety policy and all federal, state, local, and other safety regulations and practices
Use personal protective equipment and devices provided for machinery, equipment, tools and processes, when defined in PCS, Company Safety Policy, Job Safety Analysis or Management direction
Report all unsafe conditions, accidents and injuries immediately to management
Actively participate in 6S and lean activities as outlined by the Company
Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following Company instructions
Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
Store and maintain tools, equipment and gauges as defined by company standards
Keep work area clean and organized to company standards/expectations
Daily cleaning and sweeping of work area, tools and equipment
Empty trash and waste as needed
Personal items removed from workstations
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required
Minimum 3 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrate working knowledge with reading and understanding blueprint requirements, and ability to interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
Reliable transportation
Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Ability to effectively manage time, multi-task, and pay close attention to details
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Capable of following directions
Take responsibility for achieving production efficiency, quality of product and reports discrepant material immediately
Demonstrate customer focus by seeking out, understanding, and responding to the needs of both internal and external customers
Maintain a positive attitude and communicate openly and honestly with others
Solve problems proactively and contributes to continuously improving the process/product
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
Comfortable working in environments with noise, heat, or dust
Regularly required to move, sit, and bend for various hours throughout the day
Preferred
Forklift experience
Certified Level I and Level II nondestructive testing
