The role involves conducting vegetation surveys, developing conservation plans, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure project compliance and environmental impact.

Responsibilities
Conduct vegetation surveys, tree identification, and diagnostic assessments
Develop tree maps, conservation plans, and existing condition assessments
Perform forest stand delineations, including species, infestations, and conservation areas
Collaborate with clients, engineers, architects, and local agencies on project planning and compliance
Provide occasional teardown/rework support on projects (e.g., infill lot development)
Prepare and deliver client-ready reports, including Tree Preservation Plans (TPPs) and Forest Stand Delineations (FSDs), for review by local agencies (Fairfax, Vienna, etc.)
Mentor and support junior staff to foster skill development and team growth
Qualification
Required
Certified Arborist
Preferred
4+ years of relevant arboriculture or environmental consulting experience, including project management
Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline
Strong understanding of local, state, and federal regulations related to tree preservation, conservation, and land development within Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia
Skilled in tree and vegetation identification, field surveys, and developing conservation documentation
Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Comfortable performing a combination of office and field duties year-round, with willingness for regional travel
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
