Responsibilities

Assist in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects
Attend client and public meetings – days or nights
Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering plans and reports
Review the construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents
Show responsibility for job specific quality as defined in a Practice’s or Project’s quality control plan
Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Read, analyze, and interpret engineering and construction documents, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
Assist in the preparation or modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction documents, studies, permits, and designs for various projects
Assist in the development of construction cost estimates for various projects
Work under close and immediate supervision of a licensed engineer to prepare design computations, design documents, and quantity estimates, with increasing proficiency and independence
Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
Follow policies and procedures set forth in the Employee Handbook
Perform other duties as assigned
Assist with the preparation of project deliverables according to the planned direct labor and expense budgets outlined by the Project Manager or Practice Leader
Communicate effectively with the Project Manager or Practice Leader to understand established schedule milestones, as well as direct labor and expense budgets
Efficiently manage time towards completion of assignments within schedule and budget
Successfully achieve the financial goals set forth for your position (quality work within project budgets, direct labor hours, etc.)
Work with Supervisor to identify and complete professional development, skills development, knowledge acquisition, and personal growth. (i.e., new software, conferences, certifications, licensure, etc.)
Actively pursue and participate in professional activities
Complete professional development as assigned
Successfully maintain CEU’s and licensure as assigned/required
Actively pursue licensure as a Professional Engineer

Required

BS degree in civil engineering with 0-2 years of experience
Valid driver's license
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and financial functions
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Seeing, hearing, talking, standing, stooping, bending, walking, reading, and writing
Reaching with hands and arms
Ability to lift 25 lbs. or more
Ability to work extended hours at times
Predominantly office environment: some overnight travel is required
The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate
Occasionally works in outside weather conditions, possibly for extended assignments
The noise level on the construction site is often loud

Preferred

Registration as Engineer-in-Training (EIT)
Basic level of computer-aided design using AutoCAD, Civil3D, and/or OpenRoads preferred
