Responsibilities

Manages workers' compensation defense cases from intake through resolution
Conducts discovery, including drafting/responding to requests and reviewing records
Conducts and defends depositions of claimants, witnesses, and experts
Drafts, argues, and responds to evidentiary and procedural motions
Prepares case evaluations, analyses, and status reports per client guidelines
Drafts pleadings, settlement proposals, and correspondence; represents clients at hearings, mediations, and court appearances (periodic travel required)
Maintains accurate, timely billing and documentation in accordance with firm and client standards
Coordinates case tasks with paralegals and support staff
Participates in internal meetings and incorporates feedback from supervising attorneys

Required

Knowledge of Florida workers' compensation laws, procedures, and defense strategies
Ability to independently manage case files from assessment through resolution

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Active membership in good standing with the Florida Bar
1-3 years of workers' compensation defense experience
Civil litigation defense experience may be considered
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
Some Travel (depending on Practice Group) may be required
