Human Resources Assistant (Office Automation)

Responsibilities
Perform a wide variety of technical support duties in the following human resources management programs such as Position Management and Classification, Recruitment and Placement, Employee Benefits, and Performance Management
Process requests for personnel actions
Conduct initial reviews for security packages and ensures proper documentation
Initiate fingerprints and background investigations
Provide office automation support by using various software programs to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve and print a variety of documents; produce correspondence, memoranda, directives, forms reports; and create or maintain spreadsheets or databases
Review personnel action requests for accuracy, resolve discrepancies and complete missing information
Utilize current knowledge of personnel and payroll automated systems to research case-oriented processing problems that include those of an especially difficult and complex nature
Qualification
Required
You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period
You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement
To qualify at the GS-7 grade level, applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in Federal service
Specialized experience is defined as using human resources automated systems to process a variety of personnel and payroll actions for recruitment, staffing, benefits, or compensations; assist in conducting initial reviews for security packages; explain basic federal employment policies and procedures to applicants and employees; and receive incoming requests for new classification actions and screen requests, documents and reports for completeness and accuracy
To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors
