Test Engineer I

PTR Global is seeking a Test Engineer I to join their Quality Engineering team. The role involves conducting mechanical testing and materials characterization to ensure the performance of battery products, along with data collection and analysis to validate material properties under various conditions.

Responsibilities

Material Characterization & Hands-On Testing
Execute comprehensive material characterization tests using specialized mechanical testing equipment
Perform systematic stress-strain property extraction from thin layer materials used in battery products
Design and implement test protocols for mechanical test scenarios
Identify and classify material properties that reveal performance characteristics and areas for improvement
Generate detailed test reports to capture overall material performance and reliability metrics
Design, execute, and manage mechanical testing protocols that capture material behavior under real-world conditions
Collect, organize, and validate datasets
Analyze collected mechanical test data to surface patterns, anomalies, and performance insights
Create detailed documentation and reports that translate technical findings
Prepare test samples according to established protocols and quality standards
Document sample preparation methodologies for reproducibility and team knowledge-sharing
Collaborate with development teams to refine testing approaches and material specifications
Communicate findings clearly—both technical results and their implications for product performance
Contribute to test plan design and documentation that ensure product quality standards
Deliver accurate and timely results with exceptional attention to detail

Required

BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Minimum 1 year of proven experience with mechanical testing and reliability testing
Hands-on experience with material characterization equipment and stress-strain testing (Instron tensile, electropulse, … )
Meticulous attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication
Ability to travel between Client locations (Santa Clara Valley) as required

Preferred

Preferably experienced with thin layer materials testing
Familiarity with mechanical testing standards and protocols
Experience with data analysis and statistical interpretation
