Industrial Controls Engineer
Fermilab is America’s premier laboratory for particle physics and accelerator research, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. They are seeking an Industrial Controls Engineer responsible for the design, deployment, and maintenance of electronics hardware for the Fermilab Accelerator Control System, focusing on industrial controls for various systems.

Responsibilities
Analyze data and perform engineering calculations
Develop designs of specific parts, components, or phases of a project or system
Apply a variety of standard engineering techniques to assignments with clear and specified objectives
With guidance from more senior colleagues, participate in the full lifecycle of systems: conceptual realization, design, review, procurement, installation and configuration, testing, operation, and maintenance
Assist in the development of cost and labor estimates, and monitoring of budgetary obligations
Serve on safety panels, review committees, and other subcommittees as assigned
Provide technical direction to drafters, designers, engineering associates, technicians, or colleague engineers as assigned
Participate in technical conferences and publication
Abide by and be responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations pertinent to this position
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's (minimum) in an applicable Engineering discipline from an ABET accredited institution
Basic professional knowledge of theories, concepts, principles, and methodology for the engineering discipline
Possess ability to perform basic engineering design solutions and techniques
Experience with Programmable Logic Computer (PLC) design and programming, which is required for this position
An applicant capable of qualifying and training for ODH, Radiation Worker, and Controlled access environments
Preferred
Experience with motion control systems, particularly stepper motors, which is desirable
Experience with the Fermilab accelerator complex and control system, which is desirable
Familiarity with computer programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java, Rust, etc., is a plus
