Responsibilities
Design and build the AI PaaS platform infrastructure on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) including Kubernetes orchestration, service mesh architecture, and container management
Establish platform engineering standards for infrastructure as code (Terraform), CI/CD pipelines, automated deployment, and environment management across dev/staging/production
Architect API gateway and service mesh patterns for multi-product integration; design Model Context Protocol (MCP) APIs that enable Startpoint, VantagePoint, Costpoint, Ajera, and ComputerEase to consume AI services
Build developer platform tools including SDKs, CLI tools, internal APIs, and documentation that enable product teams to integrate with AI PaaS efficiently
Implement observability infrastructure using metrics (Prometheus/Grafana), distributed tracing (Jaeger/Zipkin), centralized logging (ELK stack), and alerting systems for platform health monitoring
Design multi-tenancy architecture with secure data isolation, resource quotas, and tenant-specific configuration management
Establish platform SLAs and reliability engineering practices including SLI/SLO definition, error budgets, chaos engineering, and disaster recovery procedures
Define technical vision and architecture for the AI PaaS platform spanning ML infrastructure, data platform, and product integrations
Lead cross-functional technical initiatives across ML engineering, data engineering, and product integration teams; drive consensus on architecture decisions
Design distributed systems for AI model serving, real-time inference, batch processing, and agent orchestration at enterprise scale
Architect security and compliance frameworks supporting FedRAMP, ITAR, CUI, and classified data requirements with proper encryption, access controls, and audit logging
Drive engineering excellence by establishing code quality standards, architectural review processes, and technical best practices across the platform
Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies including new AI frameworks, infrastructure tools, and cloud services; conduct POCs and make build-vs-buy decisions
Partner with product engineering teams to design integration patterns between AI PaaS and Deltek products; ensure seamless consumption of AI services
Mentor principal and senior engineers across the organization; provide technical guidance on platform architecture, distributed systems, and cloud-native development
Collaborate with data science and ML teams to translate research models into production-grade platform services with proper APIs, monitoring, and SLAs
Work with CTO office and engineering leadership to align platform strategy with business objectives; influence technical roadmap and investment decisions
Champion non-functional requirements including performance, scalability, security, compliance, cost optimization, and operational excellence
Qualification
Required
10-15 years of software engineering experience with 5+ years building platforms, infrastructure, or developer tools in principal/staff engineer roles
Kubernetes expertise: Deep experience with Kubernetes at scale including custom operators, service mesh (Istio/Linkerd), ingress controllers, and cluster management
Cloud infrastructure mastery: Extensive hands-on experience with OCI, AWS, Azure, or GCP including networking (VPCs, load balancers, CDN), compute (VMs, containers, serverless), storage, and managed services
Infrastructure as Code: Expert-level Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi; experience managing complex multi-environment infrastructure deployments
CI/CD pipelines: Deep experience building continuous integration and deployment systems using Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or ArgoCD; GitOps workflows
Microservices architecture: Proven track record designing and implementing microservices platforms with proper service boundaries, API contracts, and inter-service communication
API design excellence: Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, gRPC; experience designing developer-friendly APIs with proper versioning, documentation, and SDKs
Event-driven architecture: Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging systems; understanding of event sourcing, CQRS, and asynchronous processing patterns
Database architecture: Expertise in both SQL (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis) databases; understanding of sharding, replication, and performance tuning
Observability & monitoring: Experience building comprehensive monitoring solutions including metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting for distributed systems
ML infrastructure experience: Understanding of ML model serving, batch and real-time inference, A/B testing infrastructure, and model monitoring (bonus: hands-on experience building ML platforms)
Vector databases and search: Familiarity with Qdrant, Pinecone, Weaviate, or Elasticsearch for semantic search and RAG applications
Agent orchestration frameworks: Knowledge of LangChain, AutoGen, or similar frameworks for building agentic AI systems (experience is a plus)
Enterprise security: Deep knowledge of authentication/authorization (OAuth, SAML, JWT), encryption (at-rest and in-transit), secrets management, and zero-trust architectures
Compliance frameworks: Experience with FedRAMP, SOC2, HIPAA, or similar regulatory requirements; understanding of audit trails, data residency, and compliance automation
Technical leadership: Proven ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams; experience leading large-scale platform initiatives from concept to production
Mentorship: Track record of developing senior engineers and principal engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and architecture discussions
Cross-functional collaboration: Excellent communication skills with both technical teams and business stakeholders; ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
Multiple languages: Expert-level proficiency in at least 2-3 of: Python, Go, Java, Scala, Rust, or C++
DevOps toolchain: Hands-on experience with Docker, Helm, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Jaeger/Zipkin, and modern cloud-native tooling
Version control & collaboration: Expert Git workflows, code review practices, trunk-based development, and engineering process optimization
Required: MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
