Responsibilities
Lead highly complex and significantly impactful patent enforcement initiatives
Develop and execute litigation strategy across various jurisdictions, with a focus on the United States and Europe
Represent GSK at meetings, hearings, and trials
Effectively manage numerous competing priorities and perform at a high level in a continually changing global legal, regulatory, and scientific environment, including providing input and strategy into foreign proceedings, such as European Patent Office, United Kingdom, German and Unified Patent Court proceedings
Interface with company at all levels, including General Counsel and other senior business and legal employees
Communicate effectively and build teamwork among company employees involved in enforcement and defense of critical GSK intellectual property, including driving key learnings back into the department
Work very closely with external counsel and internal stakeholders to develop and drive overall litigation strategy, including worldwide litigation strategies, ensure compliance with company policies, and drive cost savings
Demonstrate capacity for innovation in providing unique and creative solutions to complex legal issues
Drive AI solutions to deliver AI initiatives, including those related to litigation management and outcomes
Qualification
Required
Qualified U.S. attorney, JD degree required
8+ years of significant experience with complex patent litigation in the biotechnology and/ or pharmaceutical industries
Major U.S. law firm and/or large corporate litigation department experience
Demonstrated experience with international IP litigations
Preferred
Extensive hands-on experience with all aspects of U.S. patent litigation, including fact and expert discovery (witness and report preparation), as well as in-court experience from motion practice to bench and jury trials. Having experience arguing to the court a significant plus
An advanced scientific degree and registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office a significant plus
Ability to work in a highly team-oriented environment a strong plus
Creative and strategic approach to the development and enforcement of IP
Ability to communicate competently and confidently with senior management
