Responsibilities
The candidate will be involved with a number of experiments sharing the common goal of quantifying the performance of asphalt shingles in a real world, predictive sense
Measuring the uplift resistance of various asphalt shingle products will provide resistance distributions that are key components in the reliability analysis
Emphasis will be placed on replicating real world exposure, and sensitivity testing will be used to determine the most appropriate method of measuring uplift resistance
We will also quantify the representativeness of ASTM D7158 by replicating the test setup on COMET and comparing load distributions to what is seen on the full scale
Our aim is to publish this work in a journal and use it to move the needle on improving current standard test methods for wind performance
