Responsibilities

Manage Network Technicians; Inspects and reviews work done by each technician on a regular basis for quality of work; ensures technicians are following the correct procedures; initiates disciplinary actions as required; maintains personnel records in preparation for annual reviews. Responsible for the entire network (switch, collo, transport) in assigned/designated area. Chicago/Northern Indiana/Grand Rapids/Detroit

Manage functions involving installation and repair and maintenance of primarily Network and some Business work: monitors progress of Network jobs and inspects after completion; works closely with other groups, OSP/ENG/NOC’s to ensure network stability and projects, and schedules and coordinates jobs cut-over; handles after hours problems and calls for their supervisory area; covers for other supervisory areas as needed

Utilize all aspects of workforce management: Monitors tasks and works with planner to make needed adjustments; prepares monthly work schedule; monitors employee status all during the day; monitors employee performance reports; inputs work requests

Monitor adherence of safety practices: Provides and records safety training and hazard communications and ensures everyone follows safety rules and procedures on a daily basis; maintains OSHA records; investigates and completes accident reports

Monitor and control expenses: Monitors controllable expenses; controls inventory levels in the office and on the technician's vehicles

Monitor building, grounds, and vehicles: Inspects and maintains all building, grounds, and vehicles

Provide budget inputs: Prepares budget inputs for needed tools and test sets

Other duties as assigned

Required

Working knowledge of Outside Plant, Inside Plant, and Fiber Optic Transport Networks is a must

Ability to manage people (HR knowledge) and work effectively with other Uniti teams, support groups, and customers

Customer service mentality

Previous experience as a technician

College degree and 5-7 years professional level experience with 2-3 years supervisory experience; or 9+ years related technical and/or telephony experience; or an equivalent combination of education and technical level related experience required
