Principal, Technical Program Manager

Responsibilities

Own and lead enterprise-scale, multi-year technical programs that span multiple domains, platforms, and global markets, from early strategy and inception through delivery and long-term adoption
Influence and shape technical and business strategy, partnering with engineering and architecture leaders to define long-term roadmaps, platform investments, and system evolution
Drive alignment across multiple organizations, portfolios, and leadership teams, balancing near-term delivery with long-term scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency
Set the standard for program execution, proactively managing dependencies, risks, and trade-offs across dozens of teams and complex technical ecosystems
Serve as a senior technical and executional authority, translating complex architectures and constraints into clear, actionable plans for executive and non-technical audiences
Establish and evolve program governance, operating models, and delivery frameworks to support scale, global execution, and operational excellence
Provide clear, data-driven visibility into program health, outcomes, risks, and investment trade-offs to VP and C-level leadership
Act as a force multiplier by mentoring Staff and Senior TPMs, raising the bar for technical program management practices across the organization
Champion a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, continuous improvement, and innovation

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related area and 6 years' experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area
8 years' experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area
10+ years of experience in Technical Program Management, including ownership of large-scale, highly complex software and platform initiatives
Deep technical expertise with a strong understanding of distributed systems, system architecture, APIs, cloud platforms (Azure preferred), data platforms, and modern DevOps practices
Proven ability to operate effectively at both strategic and executional levels, influencing senior leaders while driving detailed delivery across teams
Extensive experience leading programs across multiple teams, time zones, geographies, and organizational boundaries
Exceptional problem-solving and systems-thinking skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive clarity at scale
Outstanding communication, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills, including regular engagement with VP and executive leadership
Strong command of program management and delivery tooling such as Jira, Confluence, dashboards, and metrics-driven reporting

Preferred

Certification in Project Management
Master's degree in Business Administration, with specialization in strategy, supply chain, finance, information systems, or related area and 4 years' experience in product design
Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly
Knowledge of accessibility best practices and commitment to creating accessible products and services following Walmart's accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture
