The role involves leading the design and execution of private development projects while managing multiple projects, collaborating with various stakeholders, and mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and technical execution of private development projects, including residential subdivisions, commercial sites and industrial parks
Prepare and oversee design plans, specifications and cost estimates
Support land development and acquisition processes by evaluating site feasibility, zoning, permitting and regulatory requirements
Manage multiple projects simultaneously
Collaborate with clients, developers, contractors and municipalities
Mentor and give technical guidance to junior engineers, designers and technicians
Conduct site visits, observe construction and coordinate with field staff
Build client relationships
Identify opportunities for new or repeat work

Required

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
Six or more years of experience in civil engineering, with an emphasis in private development and land development
A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required or the ability to obtain one within six months

Preferred

Be proficient in design software, especially AutoCAD Civil 3D
Knowledge of GIS and other planning tools a plus
Demonstrate understanding of permitting, zoning and land acquisition processes
Speak and write well
Have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead teams
Coordinate with diverse stakeholders
Have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
