IT Support Specialist
The Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State University is seeking an experienced IT Support Specialist to join their Product Lifecycle Management and Computer-Aided Design Tools Team. The role involves providing technical support for CAD software and Siemens Teamcenter, diagnosing user issues, and maintaining applications and servers.

Responsibilities
Provide technical support to users for CAD software packages and Siemens Teamcenter PLM
Diagnose, research, and resolve user issues in a timely manner through established protocols, robust communication, and troubleshooting; escalate as necessary
Participate in maintenance, implementation, troubleshooting, and support for applications and servers
Provide appropriate access to applications, systems, and data
Provide guidance and inform of policies/procedures to users, including training as necessary
Implement security policies and protocols
Utilize and maintain knowledge bases, white papers, FAQs, and vendor documentation
Contribute to documentation of incidents, internal processes/procedures, and training manuals
Assist in tracking and maintaining hardware and software inventory; interact with vendors
May supervise a growing staff, including hiring, development, and performance management
Qualification
Required
Oracle databases and application servers (e.g., Apache Tomcat)
Helpdesk ticketing systems (e.g., Atlassian Jira)
Strong analytical skills to achieve results when diagnosing and resolving technical issues
Successful experience following established protocols and security procedures
Success in environments where various forms of communication and organizational skills were crucial to be effective
If filled as IT Support Specialist - Senior Support, this position requires: Associate Degree 4+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
If filled as IT Support Specialist - Intermediate Support, this position requires: General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or High School (HS) 2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
All positions at ARL require candidates to possess the ability to obtain a government security clearance; you will be notified during the interview process if this position is subject to a government background investigation
You must be a U.S. citizen to apply
Employment with the ARL will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen
Preferred
Associate's degree in computer or specialized technology
CAD tools and PLM systems (e.g., Siemens Teamcenter)
VMWare and virtual machine management
Microsoft Office Product Suite – Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Project, Visio
Current eligibility for access to classified information at the Secret level or higher and may be subject to a government background investigation to upgrade clearance eligibility, if required
