Responsibilities
Ability to lead inspectors or act as a solo inspector for the construction inspection of bridge and/or highway projects including measuring and calculating quantities and documenting work with daily work reports, photos, and sketches
Oversee and coordinate documentation of construction inspection including pay estimates, change orders, daily work reports, quantity checking, meeting minutes, material certifications, etc
Ensure work is completed in accordance with NYSDOT specifications
Apply project plans, along with company policies, guidelines, standards, specifications to the work and make decisive decisions
Maintain project documentation and communicate with individuals at all levels of the project
Coordinate activities on the project site and resolve problems related to the work
Lead other construction inspectors; providing coaching, mentoring, and direction as needed
Qualification
Required
High school diploma/GED
10+ years of construction engineering/inspection experience
Possess a valid US Driver's License
Leadership skills, decision making, and attention to detail
Ability and willingness to work outdoors on a project site for extended periods of time
Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions
Preferred
NICET Certification or NYSDOT equivalent
Prior experience with NYSDOT and municipal clients
