Supervisor, Materials Lab

Responsibilities

Supervise shop floor activity, including daily schedules and workflow
Lead and manage a staff of technicians and specialists in the thermal and characterization areas, including all performance management related tasks
Coordinate with engineering and other departments to ensure appropriate prioritization of work orders to satisfy companywide production and R&D priorities
Review work instructions and make change recommendations when needed
Identify training needs and develop training programs
Monitor labor hours and overtime and implement improvement plans and time management with staff
Define equipment maintenance plans and coordinate directly with supporting teams and vendors to address broken/aging equipment
Accomplish production results by communicating job expectations: planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
Develop and implement efficiency improvement measures
Champion efforts that improve safety, quality, cost, and efficiency

Required

High school diploma or equivalency certificate
2+ years of professional experience in a materials lab environment
1+ years of experience leading a team

Preferred

Experience with thermal and characterization testing techniques
Bachelor's degree in an engineering field
Able to adapt to constantly changing work assignments and fast-paced work environment
Excellent attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and accuracy
Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with engineering and production
