Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is Wisconsin's largest and most diverse technical college, offering over 170 high-quality programs. They are seeking a part-time Instructor in Sociology to develop and teach various courses, manage classrooms, and participate in curriculum development and evaluation.

Responsibilities

Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities

Manage the classroom/laboratory

Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation

Manage equipment, supplies and materials

Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues

Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area

Attend departmental and institutional meetings

Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC

Support student organizations and activities

Develop relationships with business and industry

Complete program evaluation and follow-up

Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field

Perform other duties as assigned

Required

Must have a master's degree or higher in Sociology, OR

Master's degree in a related field with at least 18 GRADUATE level coursework credits in Sociology

Must embrace and demonstrate Standards of Teaching Excellence and the MATC Career Essentials in development and delivery of instruction

Experience with an Email system (Gmail, Outlook)

Experience with a voice mail system

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite/Google

Experience with or willingness to learn online information management systems

Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course management systems

Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology

Experience with emerging technologies (e.g., social networking applications)

Preferred

Verifiable occupational work experience in a field other than education

Experience in teaching, using, and/or developing curriculum in a variety of classroom environments including face-to-face, blended, and 100% online

Must be able to develop and maintain curriculum currency
