Financial Navigator

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is a dynamic social service organization serving various communities. As a Financial Navigator, you will provide financial support and manage the financial affairs of vulnerable clients in Supported Decision-Making - Guardianship Options.

Responsibilities

Maintain financial documentation according to policy and present to all internal and external auditors upon request
Document and bill service hours for each assigned client following SDM-GO policy and procedures
Assist with finances associated with the client's estate, including but not limited to payment of bills, reconciling accounts, handling deposits, etc

Required

Associate's degree or two years of related experience
A minimum of two years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping or customer service is required
Required satisfactory completion of National Guardianship Associations Finance Certificate Program after one year of service
Coordinating skills required to organize and maintain separate financial records for 30 to 60 individual clients
Computer literacy, spreadsheets, word processing and basic budgeting is required
Strong communication skills are required to work as a team and present financial information in a conscientious manner
Strong administrative skills needed to monitor financial data and interpret financial policies and procedures
Able to work under pressure and handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner
A DHS criminal background check is required
Excellent accuracy and attention to detail regarding financial tasks (paying bills, transferring assets, depositing client funds)
Good planning and organizational skills; able to determine priorities and manage time appropriately
Sounds judgement and problem-solving skills required to analyze problems regarding the best interest of clients

Preferred

Knowledge of accounting packages like Great Plains, QuickBooks or TurboCash
Financial management experience with asset and investment management
