Strategic Communications Lead

Lafayette Group is seeking a qualified and highly motivated individual to support strategic communications efforts for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). The Strategic Communications Lead will conceptualize and execute communications campaigns, develop new ideas that strengthen existing communications practices, and deliver products that exceed client expectations.

Responsibilities

Lead development of strategic communications campaigns and related collateral for a variety of audiences including the client organization and its external stakeholder groups
Lead creation and finalization of talking points, fact sheets, web content, and white papers; develop clear and attractive slide decks, infographics, and other visual content
Review written materials for grammar, flow, and formatting aligned to the CISA style guide
Use project management skills to track milestones, provide status updates, coordinate with team members, brief clients on progress, and recommend solutions and path forward
Generate ideas for new products that support organizational goals and work with internal stakeholders to identify areas of overlap and potential coordination to align disparate goals, content, and messaging
Provide strategic communication subject matter expertise and support communications processes, practices, planning, and coordination
Build strong relationships with team members and clients
Manage and mentor junior staff
Assist with marketing and business development efforts such as proposal writing

Required

Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of strategic communications experience
Experience leading projects and managing staff
Advanced competency using Microsoft Office tools, including SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook
Demonstrated advanced writing and editing skills, including experience in AP Style and plain language
Strong client relationship building skills and the ability to communicate effectively and professionally in writing and verbally
Experience in and comfortability with public speaking
Experience working in a fast-paced environment and ability to use critical thinking skills to navigate ambiguity, anticipate potential barriers to success, and brainstorm solutions
Ability to manage and follow complex processes and adapt quickly to changes
Strong project management skills and ability to lead multiple competing projects at once
Ability to obtain and maintain DHS suitability, which will require successful completion of a background check and fingerprinting

Preferred

Experience/strong familiarity in the IT or cybersecurity industries
5+ years of federal government consulting experience
Existing DHS or CISA Entry on Duty (EOD) status
