Responsibilities
Develop and execute the bank’s strategic plan in alignment with the Board of Directors and regulatory requirements
Serve as the primary liaison between the Board, regulators, and executive management
Foster a strong culture of compliance, accountability, and ethical conduct throughout the organization
Lead all aspects of regulatory interactions including planning, execution, documentation, and reporting
Act as the primary point of contact for federal and state banking regulators
Ensure timely and effective handling of any related supervisory findings
Oversee enterprise-wide compliance, BSA/AML, risk management, internal audit, and governance frameworks to ensure sustained regulatory compliance
Strengthen and maintain robust risk management practices across credit, operational, compliance, liquidity, interest rate, and reputational risk
Ensure policies, procedures, and internal controls meet regulatory expectations and industry best practices
Promote proactive identification and mitigation of emerging risks
Drive sustainable financial performance while balancing growth with regulatory and risk constraints
Oversee budgeting, capital planning, liquidity management, and profitability initiatives
Ensure operational efficiency, strong management information systems (MIS), and effective internal reporting
Build, mentor, and retain a strong executive management team with the experience required for a regulated environment
Promote a performance-driven culture that emphasizes compliance, customer service, and community engagement
Ensure succession planning for key leadership roles
Serve as the public face of the bank within the community, reinforcing its mission, values, and commitment to customers
Maintain strong relationships with community leaders, customers, shareholders, and other stakeholders
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field (advanced degree preferred)
Extensive senior-level experience working directly with bank regulators (FDIC, OCC, Federal Reserve, and/or state regulators)
Proven track record of successfully managing examination processes and supervisory communications
Minimum of 10–15 years of progressive leadership experience within a financial institution, including executive-level responsibility
Deep understanding of bank regulatory requirements, safety and soundness standards, and risk management frameworks
Strong governance experience working with a Board of Directors
Preferred
Prior CEO, President, or Chief Risk/Compliance Officer experience at a community or regional bank
Experience leading cultural and operational transformation in a highly regulated environment
Strong knowledge of BSA/AML, credit administration, and enterprise risk management
Demonstrated success balancing regulatory remediation with business stability and community banking values
