Deep Tech Optical Sensing Architect

Responsibilities
Architecting and developing advanced optical sensing systems for biological and chemical analysis, integrating electronics with spectroscopy methods
Applying deep knowledge of spectroscopy techniques such as fluorescence, UV, FTIR, dynamic light scattering (DLS), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) to design novel sensing platforms
Designing and implementing proof-of-concept and minimum viable products for optical and photonic sensing solutions targeting biological samples
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including photonics experts, PCB designers, algorithm developers, and biologists to deliver integrated solutions
Distilling complex requirements from diverse stakeholders into innovative architectures that combine optics, electronics, and biology
Partnering with internal venture teams to explore market opportunities, assess competitive landscapes, and contribute to go-to-market strategies
Engaging with external partners and universities to advance the state of the art in optical sensing technologies
Qualification
Required
Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, and/or Nanoscale Science
Deep expertise in optical spectroscopy techniques (fluorescence, UV, FTIR, DLS, EIS)
Hands-on experience with biological samples and related sensing challenges
Minimum of 10+ years relevant industry or research experience in optical sensing or spectroscopy systems
Proven track record of developing innovative sensing technologies and translating them into functional prototypes
Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to thrive in an early-stage R&D environment
Preferred
Experience in designing and/or specifying optical sensors for scientific or medical instruments
Experience in optical design (free-space optics, fiber optics, lens specification)
Familiarity with signal processing and data analysis for spectroscopy applications
Experience working with customers and external partners
Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to adapt to rapidly evolving technology landscapes
