Responsibilities
Develop and maintain websites and mapping applications for visualizing and distributing geospatial data
Create Python scripts to produce geospatial data products
Work with technologies including PHP, Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XML
Collaborate with a skilled web development team supporting the USGS EROS Integrated Science Applications Branch
Qualification
Required
Ability to obtain and maintain a national agency check and background investigation for facility access and user accounts
U.S. Citizenship
Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science
0-3 years of recent, relevant work experience
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Solid understanding of software engineering methodologies and processes
Experience with web design, administration, and database-driven applications
Experience with PHP and MySQL
Experience with JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and React
Experience with Python programming
Experience with Databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
Experience with Security concepts
Experience with Collaboration tools
Equivalent education and/or experience will be considered
Preferred
Familiarity with Laravel or similar frameworks
Experience with requirements and design analysis
Knowledge of testing and configuration management tools (e.g., Git)
Experience with GIS systems and tools (commercial or open source)
Understanding of Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) specifications (WMS, WFS, WCS, WPS) and OGC APIs
Familiarity with spatial data, reference, and projection systems
