This internship provides hands-on experience in program development, event coordination, and daily recreation operations, supporting community events and assisting with recreation activities.

Responsibilities
Assist with recreation programs and events under the guidance of recreation managers and supervisors
Support the planning and execution of major city events, including: The Great Lenexa BBQ Battle, Community Days Parade, Freedom Run, Movie Nights and Farmers Market
Gain experience working alongside staff in recreation operations
Contribute to summer camp activities, including field trip supervision
Complete a special project demonstrating program or event management skills
Qualification
Required
Current college student with at least 30 credit hours in Parks and Recreation or a related field
Ability to work Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for events
This role requires lifting and moving supplies, standing for extended periods, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Preferred
A cover letter is preferred but not required
