Responsibilities

Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documents to develop accurate mechanical cost estimates
Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for HVAC piping, ductwork, and plumbing systems
Solicit, review, and evaluate bids from subcontractors and material suppliers
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to clarify project scope and requirements
Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide value engineering recommendations
Prepare bid proposals, budgets, and tender submissions in accordance with project requirements
Maintain and update historical cost data for use in future estimates
Attend project meetings and site visits as required
Stay current with industry trends, applicable codes, and pricing standards
Ensure all estimates comply with company standards, policies, and established deadlines
Perform additional duties as needed to support estimating and preconstruction efforts

Required

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Estimator
Proficiency in estimating and take-off software, including Trimble AutoBid and Bluebeam
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC piping, ductwork, and plumbing
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of Microsoft Word and internet-based software
Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry
Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical estimating situations
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret complex technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
Ability to read and analyze technical documents, specifications, business reports, and governmental regulations
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and present information to managers, clients, and stakeholders
