Principal Reserves Engineer

Responsibilities

Perform reserves evaluations and prepare annual reserves reports in compliance with SEC regulations and company policies
Conduct decline curve, material balance, rate transient analysis, volumetric, and other engineering analyses to estimate oil, gas, and NGL reserves
Collaborate with geologists, reservoir engineers, and operations to validate technical and economic assumptions
Maintain and update reserves databases and economic models (e.g., ARIES)
Support the preparation of external reserves audits and third-party engineering reviews
Provide input for corporate planning, investor relations, and reserve-based lending requirements
Monitor well performance, recovery factors, and economic cutoffs to ensure accurate forecasts
Assist in evaluating development projects, acquisition opportunities, and divestitures from a reserve’s perspective
Prepare management presentations summarizing reserves results, trends, and assumptions
Ensure reserves reporting adheres to SEC, SOX, and internal control requirements

Required

Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related engineering discipline
3–7 years of experience in reservoir or reserves engineering within the upstream oil & gas industry
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Strong technical understanding of reservoir engineering fundamentals, production forecasting, and economic evaluation
Proficiency with reserves and economics software (e.g., ARIES, PHDWin, or equivalent) and reservoir engineering software (Whitson+, Combocurve)
Familiarity with SEC guidelines and reserves classification standards (SPE-PRMS, SEC definitions)
Detail-oriented with ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects

Preferred

Advanced Excel skills & experience with database management preferred
