Responsibilities
Become the technical lead for development and commercialization of select new packaging processes, products and product improvements
Work with multifunctional R&D team to lead planning, mechanical design, and build out of lab scale paper converting pilot equipment
Plan and execute process & product development trials in lab or at manufacturing facility
Develop new paper packaging products according to customer needs & help customer integrate with their converting equipment
Provide technical feedback on customer questions and complaint root cause analysis as needed
Gain understanding of all relevant paper, mailer, and transportation lab tests. Expand internal testing capabilities as new needs arise
Lift up to 50lbs with or without assistance
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
Four (4) or more years' experience in a role utilizing strong mechanical design knowledge, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Willing and able to travel up to 25%
Experience manipulating and analyzing test data to derive statistically sound conclusions
Willing and able to perform work in a manufacturing environment during trials
Lift up to 50lbs with or without assistance
Preferred
Six (6) or more years' experience in a role involving design and hands on build of mechanical systems and control systems
Experience in Paper, Packaging, or Converting industries
Prior experience working in innovation, product development, applied research, process improvement, and/or a manufacturing environment
Competency in a statistical software (e.g. JMP, SAS, Minitab, etc)
