Office Administrator (Insurance Authorization Specialist), Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish)
FlexStaff is seeking a Medical Office Administrator with experience in Healthcare Insurance Authorization and Medical Billing for a Prosthetics and Orthotics Lab in the Bronx, NY. The role involves providing clerical support, managing patient appointments, and ensuring accurate insurance verification and pre-authorization.
Responsibilities
Greet and welcome patients as they arrive. Check in patients and schedule appointments
Manage and coordinate appointment scheduling for multiple healthcare providers. Reschedule or cancel appointments as necessary
Collect patient information, insurance details, and relevant medical history. Pre-authorize medical insurances. Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed accurately
Answer phone calls promptly and professionally. Respond to inquiries from patients, family members, and other healthcare staff. Relay messages to appropriate staff and follow up on patient calls
Maintain and update patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems or paper files. Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations
Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits. Collect co-pays and payments from patients. Assist patients with billing questions or concerns
Prepare and send out correspondence, such as appointment reminders and follow-up letters. Ensure the efficient handling of incoming and outgoing medical records and correspondence
Maintain a clean and organized reception area. Order and manage office supplies as needed. Collaborate with other staff to ensure smooth office operations
Assist medical professionals with administrative tasks as needed. Prepare charts for daily appointments and ensure all necessary documents are available
Qualification
Required
Experience in Healthcare Insurance Authorization
Experience in Medical Billing
At least 3 (three) years of healthcare billing/collections experience
Ability to provide clerical support
Ability to answer phone calls and obtain accurate insurance information
Ability to verify and pre-authorize insurance
