Responsibilities
Responsible for leading an architecture team within Bond and Specialty Insurance division
Define and execute the strategic architecture roadmap for platform modernization of Management Liability and Cyber products
Drive a cohesive domain architecture and integration strategy (for APIs, Events, Agents) across Product, Underwriting and Pricing domains
Define target state technology architecture and roadmaps
Ensure alignment of initiatives to target state, enterprise standards and business objectives
Identify opportunities to capitalize on technology advances through analysis of key industry and technology trends to assess potential impact on the enterprise
Define and lead technology proof of concepts to ensure feasibility of new technology architecture solutions
Drive continuous technology modernization, including to minimize technical debt
Collaborate with Technology and Business leadership to develop architecture priorities and direction to enable business imperatives
Optimize talent strategy to ensure proper mix of resources
Proactively attract, develop, engage and retain high performing talent
Set clear goals, provide ongoing feedback and hold talent accountable
Promptly address performance issues
Ensure proper alignment of team skills with technology direction and execution of proof of technologies
Deliver communications to convey architectural direction
Drive strategic relationships and champion buy-in
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's in technology related field or equivalent, with 6 to 8 years of architecture experience
Strong architecture and recent hands-on engineering experience with modern technologies like Guidewire, AWS Cloud and Microservice-based architecture
Successfully architected large scale technology initiatives
Strong leadership experience with a proven ability to influence executive and organizational decisions
Experience mentoring technology architects and engineers
Experience leading and managing technology teams to achieve strategic outcomes
Demonstrate the ability to align team goals and actions with the organization's broader mission and strategy
Ability to provide constructive coaching and feedback
Ability to take initiative in situations without clear ownership
Ability to inspire, motivate, and influence team members to drive results
Extensive experience working an agile operational model
Experience supporting transformational change
Able to adjust plans, priorities and strategies in response to changing circumstances
Understanding of value creation and business capability models
Strong knowledge of the insurance industry
Experience identifying and analyzing current/future problems and opportunities
Proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve mutually responsible results
Experience exercising sound judgment, making decisions and committing to a position
Strong and effective verbal, written and listening communication skills
Bachelor's degree in computer science, related STEM field, or its equivalent in education and/or work experience
6 additional years of architecture/software engineering experience
Preferred
Insurance technology experience preferred
