The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education is seeking a Research Fellow for the USDA-ARS Citrus Scion Breeding Program. The role involves developing new citrus varieties to combat Huanglongbing and participating in extensive field trials and data collection.

Responsibilities

Develop, evaluate, and deliver new scion varieties with improved tolerance to Huanglongbing (HLB) while maintaining fruit quality
Maintain and evaluate more than 25,000 fruiting trees across multiple replicated field trials
Collect rigorous and standardized data on yield, disease tolerance, fruit chemistry, and consumer traits
Learn new procedures on plant and seed tissue culture and current citrus breeding methodologies

Required

Currently pursuing or have received a master's degree in one of the relevant fields
Citizenship: U.S. Citizen Only
Degree: Master's Degree

Preferred

Knowledge of citrus breeding is a plus
