Project Engineering Section Manager

Responsibilities
Lead Technical Execution: Deliver project engineering capabilities across technical projects, ensuring alignment with defined scope, budget, schedules, and contractual requirements. Tailor processes to meet unique program needs and overcome complex engineering challenges
Resource Coordination: Develop staffing plans, manage resource allocation across cross-disciplinary engineering projects, and ensure optimal performance in alignment with strategic goals
Section Performance Management: Implement management systems to monitor section performance, measure effectiveness, and define improvement opportunities. Develop section-level Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that align with department objectives
Mentorship & Career Development: Mentor section personnel to foster technical growth, leadership skills, and innovation. Build development plans for advancing engineering competencies, technical mastery, and career progression within the section
Problem Solving & Decision Management: Tackle high-impact technical and operational challenges through structured analysis, trade studies, cost-benefit considerations, and evidence-based decision-making
Technical Risk Mitigation: Identify technical uncertainties and proactively drive risk mitigation strategies to secure project success
Support Business Development: Develop competitive technical proposals, cost models, and resource forecasts to enable growth initiatives. Represent the section during front-end business activities and strategic engagements
Drive Functional Excellence: Shape section-wide policies and ensure compliance with standards such as IEEE 15288, PMI PMBOK, ISO 9001, and AS9100
Special Projects: Lead special projects or initiatives that improve processes, foster innovation, and address emergent department needs, including the development of Artificial Intelligence tools to enhance project planning, resource allocation, and decision-making frameworks
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leadership, customers, and external partners. Facilitate effective communication to ensure alignment of technical and program objectives, while representing the section in customer engagements, strategy discussions, and cross-organizational collaborations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 15+ years of engineering and project leadership experience (preferably in cross-disciplinary integration)
Proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Azure, and other common engineering tools
Solid understanding of engineering processes including IEEE 15288, PMI PMBOK, and ISO/IEC standards
Demonstrated expertise across mechanical, electrical, software, and/or manufacturing engineering disciplines
Demonstrated leadership, adaptability, and strategic thinking, with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and foster innovation
Preferred
Master's degree in a STEM field
